Heyoo. This email is about two quick things:
I've been writing my book since sometime in 2017. It's about time I finished it. So I've dedicated this season to be the Winter of Word Craft and I'm launching a pop-up newsletter to share the inner process of finishing the book.
Subscribe to Winter of Word Craft here.
The newsletter starts this week, every email will be short and I'll aim for 1-2 notes a week. We'll retire the pop-up newsletter on the first day of spring when I'm done with the book.
What's a pop-up newsletter? Craig Mod says it best in
Pop-Up Newsletters are the Greatest Newsletters:
"Most newsletters would benefit from being time-boxed or run in a “pop-up” style. That is: Seasonal, or with a hard stop.
Set a limit of three to six months and pick a frequency — perhaps once or twice weekly? — and a word limit — maybe 500 words? (something you can’t shirk away from, that you could refine in an hour if hard pressed) — and stick to your rules like a madperson."
Or as Craig says in the piece: "a newsletter with a limit is a fantastic tool for not losing your mind".
If you're curious about self-publishing or independent consulting I hope you'll join me, but if you don't need more email in your life that's ok too.
I'll probably send another one of these emails to my main list in a few months.
Much love,
Tom
